Description

1.Working Principle
The calcium carbonate vertical mill typically employs advanced bed-grinding technology. When the equipment is started, the motor drives the grinding disc to rotate at high speed via a reducer. Simultaneously, lump or granular calcium carbonate raw material falls from the feed inlet onto the center of the grinding disc. Under strong centrifugal force, the material rapidly spreads outward toward the edge of the disc. As it passes through the designated grinding roller track on the disc, the material is subjected to intense compression by the grinding rollers. Larger chunks of calcium carbonate are directly crushed by the initial roller pressure, while finer particles are further ground down through interparticle crushing within the material bed.
The partially crushed material continues moving toward the edge of the grinding disc until it reaches the air ring. Here, high-speed hot air blown in from the air ring lifts and carries away fine particles that meet the required size specifications, allowing them to rise with the airflow. Coarser particles that fail to meet the size requirements, being too heavy to be lifted by the airflow, fall back onto the grinding disc for another round of grinding.
The material carried upward by the airflow enters the separator located in the upper part of the mill. Inside the separator, high-speed rotating rotor blades perform strict classification. Coarse particles are blocked by the blades and thrown back by centrifugal force, returning to the grinding disc for further processing, while qualified fine powder passes through the separator and exits the mill with the airflow. It is then efficiently collected by downstream powder collection devices as the final calcium carbonate powder product.
Additionally, during the grinding process, foreign objects such as iron pieces mixed into the raw material—being too heavy to be carried by the airflow—fall into the lower chamber of the mill due to gravity. These are then scraped by a discharge plow at the bottom of the grinding disc and expelled through the slag discharge port. This effectively prevents damage to critical components like the grinding rollers and disc, ensuring stable operation of the equipment.
